Once completed it is important to let the world know your web site exist. Major engines primarily utilize meta content as well as body text content to determine ranking position on given keywords. The Alleycode optimizer will insert keyword and description strings as well as track the number of characters entered.
On opening, Optimizer will display existing web site meta content as well as character values. To change and or create content, complete each field and "Insert" accordingly.
NOTE: Numerical windows indicate the total number of characters in either title, description and/or keywords. Numbers will turn red if over allowable character value (average value as per engine rules).
Title tags: By far the most important tag in your web page.
When spidering your site, search engine robots will first go to the <title> tag. The title must be as descriptive as possible and include embedded keywords related to your site product/content. The <title> tag is what a browser will display in its title bar and also what a search engine listing displays on it's first line. (80 Characters Max.)
Example: "The Coffee Shop" is not descriptive enough! You should have:"The Coffee Shop, Columbia, Mocca, Arabica, French Roast and Expresso coffees". Keep your most important keywords at the beginning of the sentence!
Meta Description tags: This tag lets you control what appears as the summary of your web page and will be displayed after the title of your Web site in the index listing (Most search engines). Your Description also supports your Title Keyword tags and Meta Keywords resulting in good search engine placement. Again be very descriptive and include important keyword. You may repeat your title tag keywords (256 Characters Max.).
Meta Keyword tags: Important information which supports your title tags and description tags. This information will not be visible to your visitors but will help with higher search ranking. When choosing your keywords, do so from an outsiders point of view. Try to imagine what keywords a viewer will use to find a site like yours. This also applies to the title tag keywords. And remember DON'T SPAM by placing mass amount of repetitive keywords. Again, keep your most important keywords at the beginning of the string. Maximum acceptable repetition is 7 times.(1024 Characters Max, separated by comas).
